Welcome to Nick's Rat Page

When we bought our first batch of scooters, I choose the worse condition 200 as my machine. It was a Jet 200 and had obviously had a hard life, which was just about ended. It was blue, on top of about 3 other colours, with yellow road paint splattered about it's lower regions. The engine was seized and just about everything on it was worn out. I therefore christened it "The Rat" and the name has stuck ever since.

Over the course of the next year or so it was an ongoing project when time permitted. It was stripped to the last nut and bolt, all parts blasted, etched, filled, etched, filled, etched filled and then painted.

I decided to go for the AF Rayspeed 200cc Rapido Kit for the engine. The engine was stripped, blasted and polished and then rebuilt with the Rapido. All bearings, seals, shims, gaskets etc. were replaced, as was the crank, chain, guides, clutch, gear cursor and many other parts. It really was worn out!

Once the frame and engine were ready, I then started the painstakingly slow business of assembly. Engine and rear wheel in first, followed by the forks. Then all the control cables and wiring is strung into place and on goes the seat. Tool box and petrol tank were next and then the exhaust and carburettor.

This is as far as I've got because we're very busy and your own machine is always last on the list. As it progresses so, hopefully, will this page. Click on the image for a full size view. Enjoy!
