New Restoration Project Just Finished
Below is a recent example of our restoration work. It is a 1961 Li 150 Series II. This was a customers machine that arrived as boxes of bits. No before pictures I'm afraid. All the frame, panels, legshields, footboards and the other 20-odd metalwork items that make up a Lambretta were blasted, filled, rubbed down and then painted. The preparation and painting is a multistage process.
The first stage is to do any panel beating and welding required to deal with major rot and dings. Once the metal work is straight and complete it is etch primed to seal the metal against corrosion. Any filling and rubbing down is carried out next to ensure a smooth surface. Then a coat of high build primer is applied to cover minor imperfections and provide a base for the colour coat. This is then flatted off to provide the final totally smooth and blemish free surface. Then either two coats of base or solid colour are applied. As this machine required a metallic finish two final coats of clear lacquer were then added in this case.
The engine has been completely rebuilt with a 12 volt electronic ignition and lighting system. Forks, hubs, handlebars, seats etc. have all been rebuilt/refurbished. The scooter was then reassembled with new wiring, cables, rubber trim, badges, lights, switchgear, fasteners etc. We use stainless steel fasteners wherever possible. As you can see from the pictures, this scooter is as new, probably better, because this was hand assembled, not rushed through a production line. Click on the small image for a bigger picture.

This is not a cheap process, as it is very labour intensive. However, we believe it is among the best you can get, and a Lambretta is worth the effort.
